Parents, Students and Friends,
We are in the process of fund raising to buy robotic kits, tools, and milling equipment for robotic parts to support our Electronics/Robotics program. Robotics includes computer programming, motors, circuits, and
different kinds of electric components.
Currently, more than half of our students here at East are on fee waivers or free or reduced meal plans. We have an incredibly diverse population of students with more than 40 different languages spoken at home. But, in order for us to be inclusive to all students, we would like to offer a fee-free program to all of our students.
Currently, our robotics course is building robots called Battle bots! Battle bots are one kind of robot our students will be learning how to build. Some students might prefer a Vex Robotics kit. The U.S. Navy has already donated several Sea Perch kits and we look forward to being part of an upcoming competition with other schools in our local area.
Some examples of the kind of equipment our students will be learning to use are:
CNC Multi Tool
3D Scanner for use with CNC Multi Tool
Our classes enable students to become competent and confident young engineers learning about wireless communications, software development, as well as the design and milling of mechanical components, and many other facets of robotic design.
Once graduated, their skill set will qualify them to go directly into many high paying, technical jobs, the U.S. military, as well as into higher education. Each kit, tool, piece of equipment, and software program helps to develop marketable skills in our students to qualify them for today’s high tech jobs, right now. This is more than an donation, this is a future for a child.
To support our efforts here at East High, please go to the Salt Lake Education Foundation link for East High School then designate Electronics/Robotics from the drop down menu.
For the price of a hamburger, you can make a big change in a teenager's life.
Thank you so much,
Nick Hamilton
